There are 4 types of web traffic:

Direct Traffic. When people come straight to your site, either by typing in your URL or having bookmarked your site.
Organic. Happens when people type in words or phrases related to their needs or desires on search engines (e.g. Google) and because of the relevance of your website’s content for that search, your website is displayed and found by the people.
Paid. Paid traffic are the visitors that come to your website through online advertising.
Referral. When someone finds a link to your webpage on another website.
If you don’t have a budget for advertising on search engines such Google and still want to get a visitors on your website you must consider the following:

1. Optimise your website for search engines (best known as SEO. Search Engine Optimisation): There are many factors that make your website search engine friendly. I will write a more detailed blog post about this topic and copy link within this post but right now, as an “entree” I can share the following test that help you understant and fix a very important issue that affects your website’s search ranking; how your site performs across mobile and desktop devices.

2. Creating content with a purpose: Without content, internet wouldn’t exist. 93% of B2B marketers use content marketing, but only 42% say they are effective at it. Content with purpose means to generate resources that align with your buyer personas needs and goals. By delivering this kind of content, your website is more likely to be visited and your visitors are more likely to buy from you and recommend your site with their net of contacts. Remember, customers don’t want to be sold to. They want to be educated. You want to empower your potential customers.

3. Amplify your content with social media: Internet users spend 4x more time on Facebook than on Google. It’s easier for people to share content they like with friends and acquaintances through social media than anywhere else. When your potential customers share your content on social media your traffic increases and your chances of selling to them increases too.
